​The Department of Communities is collaborating with Now Living to deliver 20 contemporary and affordable apartments at Lot 1 (8) Shaw Road in Hastings Quarter​, in line with Communities’ commitment to the State Government’s Affordable Housing Action Plan.

The development will increase the diversity of housing in Wanneroo by providing quality apartments that will accommodate residents of all ages and family types, with 14 dwellings to be sold on the open market, two allocated for social housing and four for shared ownership.

The apartments will incorporate Silver Level Livable Housing Design Guidelines, which will include features that make the dwellings easier and safer to enter and navigate around. The development’s design will meet Design WA requirements and principles, and will capitalise on natural light and ventilation, with open vistas at the end of external walkways that will provide views of the precinct.

Residents of the Shaw Road development will enjoy a more connected lifestyle, with homes 400m from parks, schools, retail and services in the Wanneroo town centre. There are high frequency bus routes along Wanneroo Road that will connect residents to Joondalup and Edgewater train stations and enable them to travel easily to Perth.

Construction is due to commence in the second quarter of 2020 and scheduled to be completed in June 2021, with some dwellings ready for purchase from July 2021.
