The Housing Authority is a major builder, home financier and land developer in Western Australia.
Opening Doors promotes the land and housing developments of the
Housing Authority which are currently available on the market.
The Housing Authority owns vacant urban land and houses for sale throughout the state which are released for sale according to demand. An ongoing land acquisition program ensures a constant supply is available.
The Housing Authority's three key objectives are to:
-
Maintain affordability via supply
- Provide a return to Housing Authority to fund other social housing programs
- Produce lots for our social and community housing programs
The above objectives are achieved via the following programs:
- The broad hectare holdings are developed into residential land to provide lots for the rental program and to meet the needs of the public, especially first home owners.
- Projects are undertaken in joint venture with the private sector. The Housing Authority has won many industry awards for its projects, proving itself a leader in the field.
- The New Living Program is the largest urban renewal program ever undertaken in Western Australia. New Living is transforming parts of the metropolitan area, where old public housing stock is being renovated and refurbished and then offered for sale at modest prices to former tenants and home owners. New rental homes are then provided in other areas to bring about a better spread of public housing.
