A progressive step in Innovation and Sustainability for the Housing Authority
The Housing Authority in partnership with Goodland Building Company, recently celebrated the success and achievement of their latest joint venture ‘The Adara Apartment complex’ in the southern Perth suburb of Success.

This innovative project was honoured with both the Excellence in Waste Management and Jim Saunders Memorial - Judges’ Innovation award, at the Bankwest Master Builder’s Excellence in Construction Awards on Saturday 25 July.

The Adara complex is the first high-density modular residential building to be completed in the Perth metropolitan area. It is made up of 96 prefabricated modules, which took just 10 days to stack and also enabled the 77-unit building to go from ground level to six storeys in an impressive two weeks.
The Housing Authority General Manager of Strategy and Policy; Tania Loosley-Smith, believes that Adara sets a new standard for future developments in Perth.
Adara is a stylish, modern complex
“Adara exemplifies how affordable, stylish and modern housing options can be delivered to the market sooner, with potential to deliver considerable cost savings and sustainability outcomes.”
The green approach which was taken at Adara, enabled the best possible environmental outcomes for the development. The pre-finished modular build also won an MBA Excellence Award for waste management and showcased significant improvements in thermal performance, setting a precedent in sustainability for future modular developments.
The overall project took less than a year to go from commencement to practical completion and provides an excellent example of an effective, affordable and innovative alternative building option for Perth’s higher density future home market.

“The project is a very real demonstration of the Housing Authority’s commitment to facilitating market transformation in partnership with the private sector – a key outcome in its Strategic Plan. Its location adjacent to the Cockburn shopping centre, walking distance to a train station and proximity to major employment opportunities also ticks the other three goals of the Strategic Plan – increasing the diversity of supply through 1-2 bedroom apartments, delivering affordable housing, and including social housing within broader housing developments," Tania said.
