Construction is well underway on a new two-level apartment complex in Beeliar that will deliver high-quality, affordable and accessible housing within the City of Cockburn.

The Department of Communities has partnered with Pindan Homes to construct the complex, which will comprise 14 one and two-bedroom apartments at 31 Kowara Dale, providing much-needed housing diversity in the area.

The incorporation of accessible features in ground-floor apartments will accommodate seniors and people with mobility or access needs.

The site is ideally located close to the local shopping centre, Beeliar Oval, Beeliar Primary school and public transport with direct links to the Fremantle and Cockburn Central train stations, connecting residents to a range of services and amenities.

Housing Minister Peter Tinley said the development would increase housing diversity in Beeliar – a suburb currently dominated by traditional single detached homes.

"The project, located opposite recreational and nature reserves, will embody the important concept of People, Place and Home through the work of local artists commissioned to create art promoting the connection to land, people and environment," he said.

Scheduled for completion in June 2020, the project supports the delivery of the State Government's Affordable Housing Action Plan 2017-18 to 2019-20.
