Housing Authority wins industry recognition

The Housing Authority once again celebrated success with its One on Aberdeen and The Village at Wellard developments.
These world class housing developments delivered in partnership with the private sector have stolen the show at the 2015 Urban Development Institute of Australia (WA) Awards for Excellence.
One on Aberdeen, in partnership with Diploma Properties, won the Judges Award and was a finalist in the Affordable Development category, while The Village at Wellard, partnered with Peet Limited, was named best Masterplanned Development and was also a finalist in the Sustainable Urban Development category.
Housing Minister Colin Holt congratulated the Housing Authority on an outstanding result.
"The industry recognition further validates this Government's preference to work with the private sector to deliver high quality, affordable developments," Mr Holt said.
"Projects like One on Aberdeen show what is possible when a Government thinks outside the box and leverages private sector capital and development expertise to deliver affordable housing outcomes for West Australians on low-to-moderate incomes."

in the heart of Perth
Fifty per cent of the homes at One on Aberdeen were affordable, achieved through a mix of design innovation, diversity of apartment types, and initiatives targeted at low-to-moderate income renters and purchasers.
One on Aberdeen and The Village at Wellard are also shining examples of transit-oriented developments where residents benefit from easy access to public transport and are in close proximity to essential services, shops, open spaces, cafes and other amenities.
"The Village at Wellard was 12 years in the making and continues to be one of the best-selling estates in Perth," the Minister said.
Looking forward to making the most of the outdoor lifestyle at The Village and Wellard are Alex and Catherine Bunting. With one son and another child on the way, they wanted a bigger home in a quiet community.
Family moving to The Village at Wellard
Cath and Alex Bunting are looking forward to many more picnics in the Village at Wellard parks with son Ruaridh (and the brother or sister who’s on the way) after they move into their new home
“We’re a young family, looking for a bigger house, on a quiet street close to schools and we found it at Wellard. We really like the village community feel,” explained Alex.
“We really like the parks and the children’s play equipment. There are lots of little parks – not one big central one with everything in it, including hordes of people. We’ll be able to take the kids to different parks for quiet picnics.”
Alex says they chose The Village at Wellard after looking around at other estates but it wasn’t until he was discussing land with a builder that he learnt about The Village at Wellard.
“We also love the fact that there’s a brand new shopping centre and train station, all 800 metres from our house,” he said.
